Noise Myth:

Neighbour noise is not a real issue for most people.

It Absolutely is! A Which? (2011) survey found that at least five million people are currently annoyed with their neighbour - but a quarter fail to take any action. The survey found noise tops the list of neighbour complaints with around three in five people annoyed by loud voices or arguing, blaring music and TVs. Court Order for Laminate

A young couple had suffered years of noise disturbance from a rented private flat located above their home. The landlord had installed laminate flooring which had significantly changed the noise environment in the couples' flat. This along with the anti social behaviour from the tenants made eating, sleeping and normal living virtually impossible for the couple.

The couple contacted their local Council and Police Community Safety Unit, but the noise continued.

Finally the couple contacted Noisedirect. In a few short Noisedirect Consultations, our advisers provided clear practical advice to enable the couple to decide to take their own legal action. By using Noisedirect's Section 82 Advice Pack the couple were able to apply to the Magistrate Court for a summons and were eventually granted a Court Order for the removal of the laminate flooring and awarded costs by the Magistrate.
